Please contact us in advance to let us know if you plan to use this shared space.
The Canada Council will also host a reception at WOMEX 2010. An e-vite announcing the date and time of the event will be distributed closer to the dates of WOMEX to every registered Canadian delegate.
Canadian Agents and Managers Delegation
As in previous years, five world music agents and/or managers will be selected to take part in the Canada Council delegation to WOMEX 2010. If you wish to be part of this delegation, please submit an application to the Audience and Market Development Office. Your application must be postmarked by Friday, July 30, 2010.
The Canada Council will cover the registration fee, transportation costs and per diems (contribution to accommodation and meals for five days at the flat rate of $125/day) for the members of the delegation. The Audience and Market Development Office will manage logistics and planned activities for the delegation. Each member of the delegation will be responsible for making their own travel and hotel arrangements. Delegates will have a listing in the WOMEX guide under the name of their company, and also under the collective booth.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible to participate in the delegation, you must have a minimum of three professional Canadian world music artists/groups on your roster, and your organization must have been in operation for a minimum of two years.
How to Apply
Use the Audience and Market Development Travel Grants application form (pdf, 507kb). Clearly outline your reasons for participating in this event (i.e. specific career development plans for your artists, upcoming tours, collaborations, etc.) Submit information about your roster of world music artists/groups.
Selection Process and Criteria
The selection process will be managed internally based on recommendations made by the Coordinator of Audience and Market Development in consultation with the Music Section. Final decisions will be based on the overall merit of the application (i.e. described rationale for participation, appropriateness of the organization's roster) in comparison with the other applications and availability of resources. Final decisions will also reflect a balanced representation of diverse artists and regions of Canada.
Apprenticeship
There will be an apprenticeship component to this delegation in order to support the development of new professionals in the sector. The Canada Council will provide a travel subsidy for one apprentice to join the delegation. If you want to propose someone as an apprentice, you must include in your application a CV for the individual you are proposing, as well as a rationale for their participation at WOMEX 2010. Support will be contingent on your organization being selected to participate in the delegation.
Additional participants
If your organization wants to send more than one person to WOMEX 2010, you may access the reduced registration rate and follow the process described above (under "Collective Invitation") to register extra participants directly with WOMEX. Additional registrants are at the expense of your organization.
