Call for Applications: Canadian Agents and Managers Delegation at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) Conference 2011 in New York
The Audience and Market Development Office of the Canada Council for the Arts will be coordinating a booth at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) conference in New York, for use by Canadian agents and managers in the performing arts. The dates of APAP 2011 will be January 7-11, 2011.
Ten Canadian performing arts agents will be selected to take part in the delegation to APAP 2011. The booth will be registered under the banner of Canada Council for the Arts. If you wish to be part of this delegation, please submit an application to the Audience and Market Development Office. Your application must be postmarked by Friday, July 30, 2010.
The Canada Council for the Arts will cover the cost of the booth and registration fee, transportation costs and per diems (contribution to accommodation and meals for five days at the flat rate of $125/day) for the members of the delegation. The Audience and Market Development Office will manage logistics and planned activities for the delegation. Each member of the delegation will be responsible for making their own travel and hotel arrangements.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible to participate in the delegation, you must represent a minimum of three professional Canadian artists/groups in the performing arts, and you must have been in operation for a minimum of two years.
How to Apply
-
Use the Audience and Market Development Travel Grants application form (pdf, 507kb)
-
Clearly outline your reasons for participating in this event (e.g., specific career development plans for your artists, upcoming tours, collaborations, etc.)
-
Submit information about your roster of performing arts artists/groups.
Selection Process and Criteria
The selection process will be managed internally based on recommendations made by the Coordinator of Audience and Market Development, in consultation with the performing arts sections. Decisions will be based on the overall merit of the application (i.e. rationale for participation, appropriateness of the organization's roster) in comparison with the other applications and availability of resources. Final decisions will also reflect a balanced representation of diverse artists and regions of Canada.
Apprenticeship
There will be an apprenticeship component to this delegation in order to support the development of new professionals in the sector. The Canada Council will provide a travel subsidy for one apprentice (apprentices from previous years cannot re-apply) to join the delegation. If you want to propose someone as an apprentice, you must include in your application a CV for the individual you are proposing, as well as a rationale for their participation at APAP 2011. Support will be contingent on your organization being selected to participate in the delegation; and subject to budget and space requirements.
Additional participants
Some organizations may want to bring more than one person to APAP 2011. The Canada Council for the Arts will only pay for one person per organization, unless the apprenticeship application is approved and in this case the expenses for two people would be covered. Expenses for additional participants will be the responsibility of your organization.
Other Activities
For other important activities happening throughout the year, Canadian agents can submit a funding application for travel expenses to the regular program Audience and Market Development Travel Grants. The applications will be processed in a routine manner as described in the program guideline.
