Canada Council-funded artists receive 59 JUNO nominations
Ottawa, Feb. 10, 2005 – Musicians and groups supported by the Canada Council for the Arts have received a total of 59 nominations for the 2005 JUNO Awards, to be held in Winnipeg later this year.
A total of 54 artists or groups who have received Canada Council funding at some point in their careers were nominated, with some garnering more than one nomination, including Diana Krall, who received a total of six Canada Council grants in the 1980s and 1990s. Other JUNO nominees who have received Canada Council support include, Jane Bunnett, Angela Hewitt, Measha Brueggergosman, the Wailin’ Jennys, autorickshaw, Taima, and the the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra. Thirteen of the albums nominated for this year’s JUNOs were directly funded by the Specialized Music Sound Recording Program, a Canada Council-administered program of the Canada Music Fund.

- Represent four of the five nominees in the nominees in:
- Contemporary Jazz
- Aboriginal Recording

- Classical Album: Solo or Chamber
- Classical Album: Large Ensemble
- Classical Composition
- Roots & Traditional Album – Group
